  • Who are Cambuslang Harriers?

    Cambuslang Harriers, since its formation in 1948, has become one of the premier cross country and road running clubs across all age groups in Scotland. We also have a very talented girls and ladies group who now regularly win major team honours.

    CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS SENIOR MEN AND MASTERS MEN RETAIN THEIR WEST DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY TITLES

    The senior and masters men teams again stuck team gold while the under 20 and 17 men took silver medals and the under 15 girls and boys bronze medals.  There were individual silver medals for under 17 Christopher McClew, under 20 Gavin Smith and masters men Ben Hukins while Iain Reid captured the masters men bronze.     CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS HOME AND AWAY

    Members of Cambuslang Harriers were in cross country action in the Czech Republic, Liverpool and Coatbridge. First year senior Moira Stewart, who has a Scottish qualification through her father Eddie, a former Scottish Internationalist and multi Scottish masters cross country champion, won the Czech senior ladies championship. Moira will now compete for the Czech Republic in the forthcoming European Cross Country Championships in Holland. Meanwhile at Liverpool Ryan Thomson representing Scotland as an under 23 runner acquitted himself well against the cream of British cross country athletes.     CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS ARE AGAIN AMONG THE MEDALS AT THE SCOTTISH SHORT CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

    The Scottish Short Course Cross Country Championships were held this year on a flat and fast course at Lanark with Tinto Hill providing a scenic backdrop.  Although the competition was fierce with athletes from all over Scotland taking part Cambuslang Harriers featured among the medals with the under 17 men and M40 master Ben Hukins, M50 master Charlie Thomson and M60 master Paul Thompson all gaining a podium place.     CAMBUSLANG MASTERS MEN LEAD THE WAY AT THE SCOTTISH CROSS COUNTRY RELAYS

    All roads led to a sunny but cold Cumbernauld on Saturday where the Scottish Cross Country Relay Championships were fiercely contested across the age groups. There were awards up for grabs for male and female young athletes, men and women under 20/seniors and male and female masters over 40 and also over 50.     CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS VETERAN WOMEN AND MEN PUT ON A MASTERFUL DISPLAY AT THE WEST DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY RELAYS

    Cambuslang Harriers were well represented across the age groups at the West District Cross Country Relay Championships held at the Beach Park Irvine.  Conditions on the day were very wet which made some of the steep downhill sections treacherous with several athletes taking a tumble.     STERLING 10K PERFORMANCES BY CAMBUSLANG RUNNERS AT STIRLING

    The Scottish 10K Road Championship event has proved in recent years to be a successful one for Cambuslang Harriers and this year was no exception.  The Cambuslang trio of individual silver medallist Grant Sheldon, Stuart Gibson and Kevan Harvey who set a pb successfully defended their team title from host club Central AC and Edinburgh AC.   The Cambuslang men have in the last 11 years won 3 team gold medals, 4 silver and 3 bronze.     CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS ON THE MEDALS TRAIL IN FIFE

    Members of Cambuslang Harriers had a very successful day at the Scottish Mid Trail Races held in the grounds of the Falkland Estate in the Kingdom of Fife. The club came away with 2 team gold and 3 team silver medals along with an individual gold, silver and bronze medal.               In the opening 5K championship event the U15 boys and girls secured gold and silver team medals respectively.     A SUCCESSFUL DAY FOR CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS AT THE BMAF 5K ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS

    Cambuslang  Harriers made their presence felt at the British Masters 5K Road Championships at Horwich with the club lifting 2 team golds and 1 silver along with 2 individual golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze.  All male and female age groups from 35 upwards competed together in a well organised race around a three lap town centre course.  However, there was some confusion immediately prior to the start when the runners who were lined up across the full width of the road were squeezed into one side of the road where the chip mats were.  This resulted in several of […]

    Club Awards Evening Friday 22nd June

    Members are now invited to book their place at this year’s awards evening on Friday 22nd June.  There will be no tickets printed for this year but places can be reserved via the google group or by giving your name in person to myself or to Fiona and Pamela for younger athletes.  Places are limited to 100 and last year we had a full house.  Hopefully as many  of our prize winners as possible can attend to receive their award in person.
