After a 2 years absence the Scottish Short Course Championships made a welcome return to Lanark Race Course.  The dry weather conditions were in sharp contrast to the very heavy rain there in 2021.  Nearby Tinto Hill was clearly visible in the distance whereas previously it was hidden from sight by the very low clouds.  Cambuslang Harriers fielded teams in the U15 boys and U17 men’s 2K and 3K events and in the separate 4K races for the senior/master women and men.  Teamwise the highlight was a silver medal for the senior men while the U15 boys in 4th place […]

The West District Relay Championships at Alexandra Park ushered in the autumn cross country season.   Unfortunately the weather the day before and on the morning of the event resulted in numerous road closures due to flooding.  Some clubs such as Inverclyde AC could not travel and Cambuslang Harriers lost the services of Kenny Campbell who was due to run the first leg for the M40 team.  Kenny and his wife Jennifer had set out early from their home in Campbeltown but had to abandon their journey on account of road flooding and an avalanche.  M50 Mark King and senior lady […]

Unfortunately Cambuslang Harriers do not have a track in Cambuslang or Rutherglen and have to travel to either Crownpoint in Glasgow or to East Kilbride to fit in track sessions. However, this did not deter Chris McLew, Gavin Smith and Jamie MacKinnon from breaking the 11 years old Scottish Senior 3 x 800M Relay Record held by a Giffnock North team which included the current European silver medallist Neil Gourley. The Cambuslang trio knocked over 2 seconds from the previous national record and over 13 seconds from the existing club record set in 1997 by Graeme Ferguson, David MacRae and […]
