  • Who are Cambuslang Harriers?

    Cambuslang Harriers, since its formation in 1948, has become one of the premier cross country and road running clubs across all age groups in Scotland. We also have a very talented girls and ladies group who now regularly win major team honours.

    Club Xmas Handicap Sat 17th Dec

    Club house open at 11.00 am for 12.00 start. U11 and first year U13 2K at 12.00. 2nd year U13/U15/ 2.6K at 12.10. U17/U20/Seniors/Masters 4K at 12.10. U20/Seniors/Masters should bring a prize to the value of £5. Presentations to take place at 1.30 pm approx. Meal due to start at 2.00 pm. Help on the day with the race would be welcome from anyone not running. Please let Robert/Mike/Owen know on the day or beforehand if you can assist.     Holiday Training

    The clubhouse will be closed from Saturday 24th December until Thursday 5th January 2017. This does not mean we are on holiday, hopefully it will give people the chance to do more. Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Monday 2nd January there will be no group training. All week days there will be training at our portacabin located on the rugby fields. All weekday training will commence at 10:00am with weekends staying as they currently are now. Also, Tuesday and Thursday evenings will be still be at 6:45pm but meeting at the postacabin instead of the clubhouse. Please […]

    CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS “MASTER” THE MUDDY CONDITIONS AT AYR.

    Cambuslang Harriers masters women and men added the West District Masters Cross Country team titles to the West District Cross Country Relay titles they had won previously in October.  Jennifer Reid, Bernie O’Neil and Claire Mennie were the female counters with Robert Gilroy, the individual winner, Kenny Campbell and Justin Carter making up the men’s team.  While the club has been accustomed over the years to success in the men’s masters category it was refreshing and welcoming to have the women emulate them.  While there were no individual medals for competitors over 60 Erica Christie and Paul Thompson were both […]

    A Busy Weekend for Cambuslang Harrriers in Scotland, England and in the Czech Republic

    It was a busy and again successful weekend for club athletes competing in Scotland, England and the Czech Republic. Down south the Cambuslang M55 team of Frank Hurley, Paul Thomson, Dave Thom and Colin Donnelly were emphatic winners of the UK 055 Male Cross Country Relay Championships. Colin recorded the fastest time in his age group and Dave was 3rd fastest. Colin Feechan deserves thanks for being team manager, reserve and driver. Elsewhere Kenny MacPherson finished 3rd M45 in the Brampton to Carlisle 10 mile road race and Alasdair Campbell was the first athlete home in the Glossop Parkrun.   […]

    Cambuslang Harriers Masters execute another raid South to bring back the Gold

    Being Scotland's only entrants at the British Masters XC Relays champs, held in Long Eaton, England, and with healthy competition to make the 4-man M55 team, the team left East Kilbride a little before 7am with high hopes of bettering the 4th place showing in the BMAF Masters road relays in May, when they narrowly missed out on a podium position.             With some wintry conditions forecast en route, leeway for planned for any hold ups (thankfully only one 10-minute delay), and a nice breakfast stop, and we arrived in plenty time at Long Eaton […]

    CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS MEN WIN TEAM SILVER IN THE SCOTTISH 4K CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

    The Cambuslang quartet of Ryan Thomson, Craig Jardine, Stuart Gibson and Robert Gilroy finished in 14th, 15th, 22nd and 28th positions from 364 runners to secure Scottish team silver medals against top opposition over a flat fast course at Renfrew.  Robert had the additional bonus of lifting the Scottish O40 Masters Award.  Again the club with 26 runners had the highest number of finishers among all the clubs competing in the men’s race and 14 of our members filled the first 91 places and were also under 14 minutes for the 4K course.  In addition to the club’s 4 silver […]

    Great Ambassadors for Cambuslang Harriers

    Members of Cambuslang Harriers have been making their presence felt not only in Scotland but also in Australia at the World Masters Championships. Kerry-Liam Wilson was the deserved winner of the Scottish Masters Athlete of the Year Award at the Scottish Athletics Awards Ceremony for his multi success on road, country and track at Scottish, UK and European level.   On the road he won Scottish M40 gold at 5K, 10 miles and at the half marathon, UK gold at 5K and European M45 silver in the half marathon.  He also secured M45 gold in the Scottish 3K indoors along […]

    Cambuslang Harriers over 40 and 50 Male Teams Retain their ScottishMasters Titles

    Cambuslang Harriers M40 and M50 teams retained their Scottish Cross Country Masters Relay team titles over a testing undulating course at Cumbernauld on Saturday 22nd of October.  The M40 quartet of Brian Douglas, Robert Gilroy, Justin Carter and Jamie Reid combined well to achieve the club's 6th consecutive victory in the over 40 category with Robert and Jamie recording the 2 fastest masters times of the day.  Brian handed over to Robert in 4th place who then took the club into the lead which Justin and Jamie consolidated ahead of Corstorphine and Bellahouston Road Runners.  Well done to Brian on […]
