Cambuslang Harriers, since its formation in 1948, has become one of the premier cross country and road running clubs across all age groups in Scotland. We also have a very talented girls and ladies group who now regularly win major team honours.
The 4k runners all started together apart from Katie who is on her active break at the moment. She ran a tempo solo run. Alistair is also on his active break but he took no prisoners last night in heading Stuart, Gordon and Iain. He has had an excellent summer and it will be interesting to see what he does in the early relays. Under 20 Ross had perhaps his best run of the summer and under 17 Sean is putting last season’s injury problems behind him. George continues to improve and it was great to see Jaz back in action after a long absence. First vet was Craig Harrower. Hopefully he can be persuaded to run for us in an open race. Dave T was first vet over 50 in his second run of the day while Frank with his usual gutsy performance was the first over 60. Under 17 Eve eased her way back into training at the end of her Highland Dancing season.
According to Robert the male record is 11.15 by Stuart. We will check out the age group records for both males and females and record them so that our athletes will have targets to aim for over the season ahead.
Any feedback on last night’s event and suggestions for the next one are most welcome.
