  • Who are Cambuslang Harriers?

Cambuslang Harriers, since its formation in 1948, has become one of the premier cross country and road running clubs across all age groups in Scotland. We also have a very talented girls and ladies group who now regularly win major team honours.

Profile – David Cooney (Mr Cambuslang Harriers)

Brian McCausland has kindy published a profile of David Cooney, both as a runner and as a Team manager, highlighting the club’s rise and success over 4 decades, on his excellent scottish athletics website http://www.anentscottishrunning.com/ with quotes from club stalwarts such as Stevie Wylie, Robert Gilroy, Jamie Reid, Iain Reid and Kerry Liam Wilson.

      Hi Dave
Just enjoyed reading you’re profile. Like Robert you’ve clearly made a fantastic contribution to Cambuslang Harriers over many years. Your piece triggered some memories for me. I recall the 1972 Ed-Glas event I ran the short leg (3rd?) and like you remember the relief given we had been disqualified 2 years earlier. You captured a few names from the past; Gordon Eadie, Bobby Ingles, Peter Preston, Alex Gilmore, George Skinner. Any info on them? All the best John Wilson

      Hi Dave
Enjoyed reading your profile. Like Robert you’ve clearly made a fantastic contribution to Cambuslang Harriers over many years. Your piece triggered some of my long forgotten memories. I recall the 1972 Ed-Glas. I ran the short 3rd? leg that day and the relief of getting the most improved team given we’d been dropped the previous year. Some names also came flooding back: Gordon Eadie, Bobby Ingles, Peter Preston, Alex Gilmore – where are they now? All the best John
