  • Who are Cambuslang Harriers?

    Cambuslang Harriers, since its formation in 1948, has become one of the premier cross country and road running clubs across all age groups in Scotland. We also have a very talented girls and ladies group who now regularly win major team honours.

    A SUMMER NEWS ROUNDUP OF CAMBUSLANG ATHLETES COMPETING ON THE WORLD, UK AND SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIPS STAGE

    Athletes from Cambuslang Harriers have been flying the red and white flag at a number of major championship events throughout the summer. Moira Stewart having narrowly lost out on a place in the Czech team for the previous Olympics fulfilled her long-time ambition to contest the Olympic Marathon in Paris.  While she is eligible to compete for Cambuslang through her father Eddie, a long- time Cambuslang member, she was representing the Czech Republic.  The hilly nature of the course and the rising humidity meant that personal best times were in short supply.  Moira was no exception here.  She started off […]

    INTERNATIONAL, UK, SCOTTISH AND DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUNDUP

    Members of Cambuslang Harriers have been busy in recent months competing both in Scotland and outwith in championship events on road, track, trail and hills.  Ryan Thomson was the leading Cambuslang athlete in the London Marathon which also incorporated the Scottish Championships event.  In spite of suffering from cramp in mid race he still clocked the excellent time of 2.21.24.  He was backed up by M40 athletes Iain Reid and Ian Hodge and M50 Iain Crawford.  Unfortunately Fraser Stewart was forced to drop out on account of a hamstring issue when well placed.  New member Maddyson Mallet recorded a fine […]

    MEMBERS OF CAMBUSLANG HARRIERS WIN SCOTTISH, UK AND EUROPEAN MEDALS IN THE MONTH OF MARCH

    March was a successful month for Cambuslang Harriers with their athletes flying the red and white flag in championship events in England, Scotland, Wales and in Poland. In the opening March weekend the U15 trio of Daibhidh Kinnaird, John Frood and Euan Reid along with U17 athlete Sam McCarthy had the honour of representing the West of Scotland in the UK Intercounty Cross Country Championships held at Nottingham.  Daibhidh rose to the occasion to cross the line in 9th place and led the West Team to victory in the face of fierce opposition from the cream of his UK peers.     CAMBUSLANG SENIOR LADIES SHINE IN ARMAGH WHILE THE MASTERS TRIUMPH IN FORRES

    Cambuslang Harriers senior women and men were invited once again to compete in the Armagh International Road Races.  The Armagh event is renowned for the warm reception given to competitors by the host club Armagh AC, for attracting a top international and domestic field and for generating fast times in the women and men’s 3K and 5K races.     JANUARY ROUNDUP

    Apart from the Inter District Cross Country Championships January tends to be a quiet month in the athletics’ calendar.  Nine Cambuslang athletes had earlier qualified at the West District Championships in December to represent the West in the Inter District Match at Renfrew.  Unfortunately senior athletes Katie Clubb and Gavin Smith and U17 Zach Seenan were unable to take their places due to injury and illness.  U13 Brooke Walker kicked off the proceeding followed by Ewan Kennedy who was a counting member for the victorious U13 boys West team.  In the U15 boys event Daibhidh Kinnaird and Euan Reid helped […]

    MARATHON OLYMPIC QUALIFIER MOIRA STEWART AND COACH MIKE JOHNSTON CATCH THE EYE IN THE CLOSING WEEKS OF DECEMBER 2023

    The first West Cross Country League Match of season 2023-24 was staged at Kilmarnock in mid November.  The value of this competition is that it gives athletes resident in the West of Scotland further opportunities to gain race experience on the country and it is also one of the few events in which athletes under 11 can participate.
