Who are Cambuslang Harriers?
Cambuslang Harriers, since its formation in 1948, has become one of the premier cross country and road running clubs across all age groups in Scotland. We also have a very talented girls and ladies group who now regularly win major team honours. From 1997 to 2015 the club was sponsored by the sportswear company Ronhill and appears in race results from the period as Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers. We reverted back to our original name of Cambuslang Harriers in 2016.
What level of runner do you cater for?
Although we are a very successful club most of our members are in the club to run and train with like-minded individuals. They enjoy the company on training nights as they endeavour to improve their fitness and performance. We cater for anyone from the young athlete taking part in athletics for the first time to the older runner who just wishes to keep fit, and who may never wish to race competitively. Cambuslang Harriers also welcomes athletes with a disability, learning difficulties and those from ethnic minorities wishing to participate in athletics.
Do I Have To Be Really Fit To Join?
The coaches at the club will quickly assess your state of fitness and ensure that you do not work too hard during your initial sessions. It’s all about fun and enjoyment whilst improving your health and fitness. The health and welfare of our athletes is of paramount importance to us and we accept that we have a duty of care particularly concerning our younger athletes.
Are Cambuslang Harriers Successful?
Over the last 50 years Cambuslang Harriers have won the Senior Men’s National Cross Country Championship Team title more often than any other club, and we have also triumphed at every boys team level. Over the last few years our girls teams have started to enjoy success at both regional and national level. Our veteran athletes are dominant within Scotland, but have also won almost every British team title.
What Do We Offer?
Good coaching, enjoyment and encouragement in a safe and friendly environment whilst running in the company of others of similar ability.
